Then you’ve got Cryptologic which you’ll find at the likes of Ritz Club and OddsOn which is used by the English Harbour group (ie. English Harbour Casino, Super Slots, etc.)
Microgaming is the big boy. It’s the biggest and generally regarded (by most) as the best – especially since the Viper software came out some time ago. However, it’s also the most expensive.
Do bear in mind that you need seriously deep pockets to set up with the big guys.

MicroGaming casinos generally have the best reputation. In the few casinos (and they are very rare) where a Microgaming casino has gone under, the software provider has stepped up and sorted out player problems/winnings.
RTG probably have the worst reputation of the bunch simply because they’ve had some quite shady casinos operating with their software and RTG haven’t always been as helpful as they could have been. On the plus side, things have changed quite considerably over recent years and they’re a much stronger brand now than they perhaps have been in the past.

If you actually wanted to own an online casino it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more.
First off you have to open it in a free country. Sadly America does not qualify because the government can’t be bothered to tax and regulate the online gaming industry. So you will have to physically locate the offices in Canada or the Caribbean.
Then you need a suite of software and dozens of high powered servers to run all the games. You’ll need money in the bank to look legitimate because you will want to prove to the gaming commission in that country that you have every intention of paying out on winnings.
You will probably need a team of staff who can handle technical support and can maintain your systems.
I’d really go as far as to say that it might actually be more expensive to open an online casino these days that opening a small real life casino.
